I have practiced law in Arizona for thirty years hoping to help those in need in a courteous, respectful and thoughtful manner. For twenty years, I have been in private practice at one law firm. Except for a brief tenure with the Arizona Court of Appeals, a brief tenure working in government relations advocating for access to higher education, a brief internship with the Arizona Corporation Commission Securities Division, and a brief tenure working at a medium size law firm, I have practiced law continuously in one firm in downtown Scottsdale. Between 1995 and 2015, I was a co-founding member of the law firm DeFusco & Udelman, P.L.C. We represented victims suffering from bodily injuries as a result of the negligence of others. During these twenty years, we also represented clients in a unique area of the law called insurance “bad faith.” We sought to hold insurance carriers accountable for unreasonable conduct no matter the type of insurance policy and the coverage at issue. As an insurance recovery attorney, our clients were individuals, businesses, receivers or bankruptcy trustees suffering harm because an insurance carrier wrongfully delayed or denied claims, improperly valued loss, or wrongfully rescinded policies. And we also provided crime victims with assistance as counsel of record helping them work their way through the criminal justice system.
As of January, 2016, I started my own firm The Udelman Law Firm, P.L.C. a boutique practice focusing on similar work. I am available to assist in-house or external corporate counsel if a need for specialized legal analysis pertaining to insurance coverage or insurance recovery issues ever arises. Typically these needs arise when a business suffers a loss and seeks coverage from their general liability insurance, umbrella, E&O or D&O insurance carrier for this loss. I help individuals or businesses work through and resolve disputes involving their insurance carriers or the insurance carriers of others. I am also proud to help crime victims as counsel of record in criminal cases helping them find civil remedies if they exist. Lastly, I help people who have been injured due to the harm of another whether in a car, at a business or in somebody’s home assisting with processing claims and recovering damages.
I have lived in the valley my entire life and am happily married with two wonderful children. I have been active in my community as a member of the board and president of my religious institution in Paradise Valley. And most recently, I have assisted with formation of a non-profit organization to provide legal assistance and social services for crime victims at no cost to them. I provide technical support for appellate work and advocate for issues affecting crime victims when the need arises. My firm regularly advocates before all courts in Arizona and elsewhere including all Arizona state courts, Arizona Court of Appeals, the Arizona Supreme Court, United States District Courts and Bankruptcy Courts.
